Delete your account and data

If you can still sign in

Deleting from inside the app is immediate and needs nothing from us. Open MeetUpThere, go to Settings, scroll to Delete my account, and type DELETE to confirm.

Your account, your trips, your events and your messages are removed as soon as you confirm. This cannot be undone.

If you cannot sign in

If you have uninstalled the app, lost the phone, or can no longer get into your account, use the form below. We will confirm you own the address before deleting anything — usually by replying to it — so please use the address the account was registered with.

What gets deleted

When your request is completed, we permanently delete:

• •Your profile — name, email address, phone number, photo, home city and company.
• •Your trips, including notes, photos and their comments.
• •Your events, the guest lists you created, and your replies to other people's events.
• •Your messages and the conversations you took part in.
• •Your connections, connection groups, and any pending requests.
• •Your clubs, posts and comments, and your membership of clubs other people run.
• •Your sign-in credentials, so the account can no longer be used.
• •Any device registrations used to send you notifications.

What we keep, and why

Two things survive deletion, and neither identifies you to other users of the app:

• •A record of the deletion request itself: the address it was made from and the date it was completed. This is how we can show a request was honoured, which is only useful once the account is gone.
• •Anonymised records where the law requires it: a small number of transaction and security logs are kept for the period our legal and reporting obligations demand, with anything identifying you removed.

Messages you sent to other people may remain visible in their copy of a conversation, in the same way an email you have sent stays in the recipient's inbox.
